Page turner pedals: hands-free chart navigation, zero setup
Tap a footswitch instead of reaching for a screen mid-song. Every pedal and foot switch below works with BandBinder's Performance Mode out of the box. No pairing wizard, no in-app configuration. Set the pedal to its arrow-key or page-key mode and you are done.
Quick how-to
- Pair the pedal with your device over Bluetooth, the same way you would pair a Bluetooth keyboard. USB foot switches just plug in.
- Set the pedal to its arrow-key or PageUp/PageDown mode, using its mode switch or its app. Either one advances and backs up through your chart.
- Step on it. One switch advances, the other goes back.
Have a configurable pedal? AirTurn, PageFlip Firefly and PageFlip Dragonfly pedals can be reprogrammed (via AirTurn Manager or the PageFlip software) to send other keys. To drive autoscroll instead of turning pages, map a switch to A (toggle autoscroll) or to autoscroll speed, which the app shows as < / > - map the unshifted , / . keys your pedal actually sends. Performance Mode handles them already. The older [ / ] still work too, so a pedal already mapped that way needs no change.
USB foot switches for desktop players
If you rehearse or perform off a Windows, macOS or Linux machine, you do not need Bluetooth at all. A programmable USB foot switch is cheaper, never needs charging and never drops a pairing mid-set. Program it once to send PageUp and PageDown (or the arrow keys) and BandBinder treats it exactly like any other keyboard.
| Device | Price band | Switches | Modes | Works with BandBinder | Notes | Where to buy |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| PCsensor 3-key USB foot switch | Budget | 3 | Fully programmable: each switch sends any key, key combination, shortcut or mouse action you assign it. | Works out of the box once programmed | Configured once on Windows or macOS, then it behaves as a plain USB keyboard on any machine. Three switches is enough for back, forward and autoscroll. | View on Amazon |
Windows, macOS and Linux are available now, so this is the lowest-cost way to try hands-free page turning today.
Why every pedal "just works"
Performance Mode binds PageDown, Down and Right to advance, and PageUp, Up and Left to go back. That covers the default mode plus at least one more on every device above. The modes we deliberately do not bind (Space/Enter, mouse clicks, MIDI, media keys) all have a working alternative on the same pedal, so the fix is the pedal's own mode switch rather than app code.
Nothing on this page is a paid feature. Pedal support is part of Performance Mode, which is free on every device you own, forever.
